About the
Twin City Market |
The Twin City Market (TCM for short) was started as
a project of the Northwest Illinois Ag Coalition (NIAC). TCM started operations
as a farmers' market in mid-July 2005 after the generous contribution of a building
and funds from the City of Sterling, Illinois. Because of its indoor location, TCM
can be open year round.
|
TCM focus
is to market local products
to the surrounding area |
Our year round offerings include locally grown beef, pork, bison, free range chicken
and eggs. Locally grown organic herbs (fresh in the summer, dried in the winter)
and Illinois made jams, jellies, and sauces are available year round.
Rural entrepreneurs also offer toffee, baked goods (pies, breads, cookies, cakes),
soaps, spun wool, forged metalwork, soy candles, rag rugs, black walnuts, homemade
noodles, baskets, sunflower seeds and corn for wildlife feeding, home decor and
crafts.
The Twin
City Market exists to provide a source of freshly grown produce and locally raised
meat, poultry and eggs, while educating the community on the advantages and benefits
of local agriculture. Lastly, the market
helps foster an economic environment that contributes to the financial success of
the local business entities that provide our community with their locally grown,
raised or crafted products.
